Celebrating a Decade of Collaboration and Discovery
Founded in 2011, CETUP* (the Center for Theoretical Underground Physics and Related Areas) marks its 10th year of advancing collaboration and discovery in underground science. After a six-year hiatus, the workshop returned in 2023 with renewed energy and focus—continuing its mission to connect theorists and experimentalists from around the world in an open, discussion-driven environment. Over the years, CETUP* has produced more than 209 publications and become a hallmark of scientific exchange, linking directly to major experiments at the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF), including DUNE and LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ). Each summer, participants gather in the Black Hills of South Dakota to engage deeply with groundbreaking research in physics, astronomy, geoscience, and related fields.
SHARE YOUR CETUP* STORY
As part of this milestone year, we invite past participants to share their CETUP stories*.
We would love to hear about:
• A memorable moment or experience (photos or articles welcome)
• The people, collaborations, or environment that made it meaningful
• How it influenced your research, career, or perspective
• Any outcomes (publications, partnerships, new directions)
• The broader impact of your work connected to CETUP*
Whether it was a breakthrough at a whiteboard, a conversation that led to a long-term collaboration, or the unique experience of working alongside peers, your perspective is an important part of CETUP*’s story.
If relevant, please include the year, related publications, collaborators, and why the experience was impactful.
Your reflections will help us capture and share the impact of CETUP*.
Thank you for being part of this community.
