Interested in a lunch reservation after dismissal on Wednesday?

Lunch will not be provided Wednesday. This reservation is for those who would like to discuss further over lunch after Wednesday's dismissal. Lunch will be covered by the individual.

Underground Site Visit

Anyone entering the underground must be 18 years or older, must complete safety training, and must sign two waivers:

Acknowledgement of Risk and 2) Release, Agreement not to Sue and Waiver.

Temperatures will be in the low- to mid-70s° Fahrenheit (low 20s° Celsius) on the 4,850-foot level.

For safety purposes, tour guests are required to wear clothing that is appropriate at a construction site: full-length pants or jeans, shirt with at least a quarter-length sleeves, sturdy, closed-toe shoes, and socks. SURF will provide personal protective equipment (PPE)—coveralls, hardhats, cap lamps, safety glasses, etc.

Restrooms are available underground. Cameras are welcome.

All those going underground must be able to perform the following activities:

Don and wear the required PPE.
Don and use a self-rescuer.
Walk across uneven or slippery surfaces for distances more than one mile (~1.6 km).
Walk in both warm/hot and humid conditions.
Tolerate changes in elevation.
Tolerate standing in very close proximity to others while riding in the personnel cage.
Recognize and respond to emergency signals and signs (visual, auditory, and olfactory).
Travel to egress points unassisted, and under their own power.
Ascend and descend up to three flights of stairs at a time.
