The Water Beneath Our Feet: Using SURF as a Natural Lab for Groundwater Studies

Speaker: Dr. Scott Beeler (SD Mines)

Groundwater is the largest terrestrial reservoir of liquid water on Earth where it serves as a critical water resource and hosts a significant fraction Earth’s biomass. As a result, understanding the processes controlling groundwater chemistry has key implications for our understanding of global elemental cycles and human use of groundwater resources. This talk will highlight the unique opportunities SURF provides for groundwater studies and present results of research into the processes governing groundwater chemistry at SURF.
